Ashton Giese

After managing communications for on a political campaign in 2012, Ashton set off on a round-the-world trip and continued using his writing expertise to share experiences from Burma to Brussels! Previously a foreign affairs analyst working from Washington, DC – he brings a rounded understanding not only of the cultural background of every country, but also its politics. His goal is always to achieve an authentic experience everywhere he travels and help others to do the same: meet locals, enjoy local festivities, see sights, but truly experience the life within that destination.

With this perspective – and a desire to give back to the LGBT community — Ashton sends a weekly travel and world LGBT news brief, which includes all the best events and most useful travel posts — but also ways to understand (and even advocate for) LGBT people all across the world. He implores gay travelers to travel and enjoy the world — but also to consider often-difficult situations for LGBT people abroad. He also works at the International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission, the world’s premier advocate for global LGBT rights.

Ashton resides in New York City when he’s not traveling the world.
